Now tell me how are you planning for St. Patrick's Day celebration? Very candidly, I'm busy researching a bit to make plan for pairing the right food with the right drink. Yes, just food and drink ... and this is how I want to keep the spirit of St. Patrick's Day fun held high!

How good is Irish red ale with Corned beef? I just found this easy-to-make st. Patrick's day recipe over the net... tried out this weekend and became a fan of it.

Making Corned beef is not all that big deal. This is how to make it:

Ingredients:

• Corned beef brisket -- 4 1/2 pounds
• Garlic powder -- little more than 1/2 tsp
• Black peppercorns -- 6
• Bay leaves -- 2
• Whole onion -- 1
• Mid sized potatoes -- 5 (each peeled well and cut into quarter)
  
• Salt -- as per requirement
• Butter -- 2 1/2 tsp
• Fresh parsley (chopped) 1/4 cups
• Small head cabbage, cut into wedges -- 1
• Peeled and sliced carrots -- 5 medium sized

Direction:

• Take a pan with water and place the beef garlic powder, peppercorns, bay leaves, salt and onions into it so that everything is under the water. Make sure that the water level is approximately an inch more that the stuff.
• Boil it for 25 minutes. You can find residual floating on the surface... just skim it off and let it be in the low heat for 2 minutes more.
• Add the potatoes, cabbages and carrots into the mixture and let them boil until the carrots and potatoes become soft.
• Put the butter and stir it well and then keep it away from the heat.

This serves 5 with the Irish red ale. So folks just call over your pals and get yourself prepared with plan for the St. Patrick's Day celebration. I've already tasted it the last week and it was simply great... delicious. You can try out recipe at home before St. Patrick's Day. Let me know what you think.
